On April 21st we suffered a devastating house fire. The house and our belongings were all destroyed. Our human family is safe.
Our 14 year old was home alone in the afternoon when the fire started downstairs in the Laundry Room. She was trying to take a nap and one of our Pixie Bobs, Conifur, kept jumping on her and waking her up. Our daughter finally gave up on the nap, and got up to get a snack when she noticed the very heavy smoke coming from downstairs. She called 911 and went outside and waited for the fire trucks to arrive.
The fire chief told us that the Pixie Bob saved her life - 5 minutes longer in the house and our daughter would not have gotten out in time and would have died. Sadly, Conifur was pregnant and died in the fire. Conifur is being honored by the Red Cross as a Hero Animal Rescue Member.
Heart wrenchingly, we lost 8 of our 13 Pixie Bob family members. The cats died a painless death. They would have felt drowsy, gone to sleep, and died in their sleep. While we can never replace the cats lost in the fire, many wonderful, generous, Pixie Bob breeders in the USA are helping us to continue raising these wonderful cats, by helping us find or giving us Pixie-Bobs from their breeding programs. I know our Pixie Bobs are waiting for us across the rainbow bridge, and are happy we still love this breed so much that we are going to continue raising the BEST Pixie Bob kittens out there.
I am in the process of designing a new website. I will keep the old website available to remember the Pixie Bobs that have crossed the bridge.
